التنمية المستدامة
reducing carbon emission by 2050
Al-Zahrawi University
Al-Zahrawi University is publicly dedicated to minimize the
emission of carbon in its campus gradually, until the emission of greenhouse
gas (GHG) reaches a net-zero level by 2050
:Scope 1
Scope 1 emissions involves the direct GHG emissions produced from
sources like the combustion of gas for heating and diesel for power generation
and transportation. The strategy used to reduce these emissions includes
- Renewable energy
implementation: Solar panels were installed on campus buildings, supplying
a part of our energy needs
- Transport
Electrification: The university has the intention to replace its vehicles
with electric or hybrid alternatives
- Encouraging public transportation by buses inside and outside campus
:Scope 2
Scope 2 emissions generated by the purchased electricity consumed by the university campus. The strategy used to reduce carbon fingerprint includes
- Green energy
procurement: The university is planning to use solar energy and winds
energy to gradually replace the traditional sources of energy, until the
campus reaches net zero emission of carbon
- On-campus energy
conservation approach: The university is implementing a campus-wide energy
conservation plan that includes the use of energy-efficient lighting and conditioning
devices
- Sustainable
green buildings design: This design can promote the use of natural
lighting and ventilation; this can reduce overall energy consumption
inside campus
