Al-Zahrawi University is obligated in its efforts to excute an
inclusive, equitable, and respectful academic environment. As every person
contributes specific viewpoint and opinion that enhance the learning experience,
the university appreciates the diversity of the instructors, staff, and
students
Al-Zahrawi University is committed to ensure that all members of the
educational community feel respected and supported because the university think
that diversity bolsters the institution by promoting a wide range of thoughts.
And regardless of background and identity, Al-Zahrawi University works hard to setup
an equitable atmosphere where all university members have same access to resources
and services. In the same time, the university is devoted to establish a
welcoming environment where all individuals are accepted and respected. The
university aim is to create an environment that encourage the inclusion of
different individuals in Al-Zahrawi University community
- :Purpose of
the policy
The aim of equity, diversity and inclusion policy in Al-Zahrawi
University is to make sure that all interactions within the institution
environment are done in a way that maintain respect and justice to all
university members. The purposes of implementing this policy are
v Promoting equity: All university members should have the same chance for accessing
institutional resources and opportunities. This aim can be accomplished by
removing all barriers that may faces university members
v Promoting diversity: The university is required to recruit and hire staff members from
various backgrounds and ethnicities. Also, the university is committed to
encourage enrollment of students from different cultural backgrounds
v Promoting inclusion: Al-Zahrawi University is committed to create and maintain an
academic atmosphere where all members are feeling safe and unafraid to express
their opinion and viewpoints in all activities
v Prevent and eliminate discrimination and harassment: The university is required to setup up procedures that can recognize and remove any practices that adversely influence staff members’ and students’ dignity
v Assessing and improving policy
efficiency: The institution is required to
conduct feedback surveys on regular basis to check and improve the implemented
policy

Several provisions were applied to guide and manage the behavior
and practices of all university members. The application of these provisions
can ensure and foster the equity, diversity and inclusion nature of the work
environment. These implemented provisions are
v Equal opportunities: All university staff and students should have equal opportunities
to access institutional services and resources
v Non-discrimination: The university is obligated to prohibit any disclination against
any member on the basis of religion, ethnicity, color, nationality or specific
disability
v Harassment free environment: The application of this policy should prevent and eliminate any
harassment or bullying within education and work environment
v Accommodation for members with
disabilities: The university is required to
guarantee that any disabled member can easily access institutional services and
resources
v Transparent communication: The university is committed to adapt transparent communication
tools equity, diversity and inclusion policy and practices
v Collaboration with local
organizations: Such cooperation can enhance and
ensure the appropriate application of equity, diversity and inclusion policy
v Continuous monitoring and
improvement: Regular feedback surveys and other
assessment sessions should be done to ensure the effectiveness of the applied
policy.
- : Responsibility and enforcement mechanism of the policy
The successful application of the equity, diversity and inclusion
policy in Al-Zahrawi University depends on the active participation of all
institutional members. The responsibilities and enforcement of the policy can
be summarized as the following

Responsibilities
Ø Leadership: The university leaders including president and deans are responsible for promoting equity, diversity and inclusion policy
Ø Administration: The human resources department is committed to integrate equity,
diversity and inclusion principles into university employment activities
Ø Faculty staff: The faculty members are expected to incorporate equity, diversity
and inclusion into their teaching curriculum.
Ø Students: University students are encouraged to respect and adhere to policy
main principles (equity, diversity and inclusion)

Enforcement
Ø Any possible breach or violation to the equity, diversity and
inclusion policy should be reported to the human resources department, investigation
should be carried out for any potential violation. Depending on the severity
and type of violation, disciplinary actions must be applied like warning and
temporary suspension.
- :Regular review and update of the policy
The university policy for equity, diversity and inclusion is
annually subjected to reviewing and updating process to ensure the effective
application in the educational process. The human resources department in
Al-Zahrawi University is responsible for the reviewing process based on
feedback surveys and legal experts’ opinion. The aim of this revision step is
to ensure that the current policy can fit very well with any legal changes or
feedback responces
